Richard E. Lorenz, M.D. - Bosley Physician

Dr. Richard Lorenz – Bosley Medical Atlanta Doctor Dr. Richard E. Lorenz is certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.

After graduating with a B.S. in Biology from the University of Washington, Seattle, in 1972, he earned his M.D. from the University of Minnesota, Minneapolis, in 1976. Dr. Lorenz completed his internship at University of Wisconsin Hospital, Madison, in 1977. From 1977 to 1980, he served in the Navy, as General Medical Officer. He completed his General Surgery Residency at Sinai Hospital of Detroit in 1982, and his Plastic Surgery Residency at Phoenix Plastic Surgery Residency in 1984.

For the next seventeen years, Dr. Lorenz was in a private practice of plastic and reconstructive surgery; first in Spokane, Washington from 1984 until 1988, then in Phoenix, Arizona from 1988 to 2001. In Phoenix, Dr. Lorenz was a Clinical Instructor in Plastic Surgery at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine.

In 2001, Dr. Lorenz elected to practice hair restoration surgery exclusively and become a Bosley Atlanta Physician - the world's leader in Hair Restoration.

He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Plastic Surgery (1987) and the National Board of Medical Examiners (1977). He is licensed to practice medicine in California, Arizona and Georgia and is a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgery and Rocky Mountain Plastic Surgery Society. Dr. Lorenz is currently located in Bosley's Atlanta, Georgia office.

Jonathan Ballon, M.D. - Bosley Physician

Dr. Jonathan Ballon – Bosley Medical Atlanta Physician

Dr. Jonathan Ballon earned his Bachelor of Arts degree from Oberlin College in Ohio and his M.D. from New York Medical College. He has completed residencies at St. Vincent's Hospital & Medical Center of New York and the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington, CT.

Following his neurosurgical residency at the University of Connecticut Health Center, Dr. Ballon went into private practice in neurosurgery and served as an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Connecticut. He was granted an International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery Fellowship in Hair Restoration Surgery from Medical Hair Restoration in 2004. Following his fellowship, Dr. Ballon has exclusively performed hair transplantation procedures.

With more than 20 years of performing neurosurgery to his credit, there is no question that Dr. Jonathan Ballon brings incredible skill and painstaking attention to detail to his work in hair restoration. "After leaving neurosurgery, I wanted to work in a field that could continue to challenge me while allowing me to have a positive impact on people's lives. As a hair restoration patient, I know what it meant to me to have hair on my head again," said Dr. Ballon.

Drawing from his experience in neurosurgery, Dr. Ballon brings great compassion to his patients. He recognizes the importance of listening and communicating with patients and their families in order to establish realistic expectations. "It is critically important to understand how a patient's hair loss has affected him or her, and what they would like to be accomplished by surgery," he said. "What I love about hair restoration is the opportunity to apply my surgical skills artistically, and to help people recreate that mental picture of themselves they still carry with them from years past. It's incredibly rewarding." Dr. Ballon is a firm believer in the uniqueness of each person's hair loss case so he takes tremendous pride in personalizing every consultation and procedure. Over the years, Dr. Ballon has given numerous public presentations on hair loss and hair transplantation. He is a Diplomate of the American Board of Neurological Surgery and a Diplomate of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery. He is also an active member of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS).
